Sukma Police arrested an inter-state peddler near Kumhar Para and seized banned cough syrup bottles and Proxyvon capsules worth approximately ₹70,000.
The arrest was made under ‘Operation Aagaz’, an ongoing anti-narcotics drive led by Sukma Superintendent of Police Mayank Gurjar.
Acting on a tip-off that a suspect was travelling from Odisha to Sukma city to sell illegal drugs, City Kotwali Inspector Roshan Singh formed a team and set up a blockade near Kumhar Para. Police intercepted the suspect and recovered 720 Pyeevon Spas Plus capsules and 108 bottles of OnyRex-plus cough syrup packed in cardboard boxes.
The suspect was identified as Rajendra Biswas (36), a resident of Padamgiri currently living in Malkangiri, Odisha. Police also seized a motorcycle and a mobile phone used in the crime.
Investigation revealed that Biswas operated primarily out of Malkangiri, supplying contraband into Chhattisgarh.
Sukma Police registered a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at the City Kotwali police station. The accused was produced before a local court and sent to judicial custody.
Senior officers stated that end-to-end investigations are underway to track down larger suppliers involved in the network. Police have so far acted against 24 inter-state traffickers and seized contraband valued at over ₹3.31 crore under the operation.
