Raipur: The High Court of Chhattisgarh bid a farewell to Chief Justice Ramesh Sinha upon his retirement after a long tenure at the bench.
In his address, Justice Sinha thanked the judges, officers, bar members, and state administration for their support throughout his tenure. He noted that a Chief Justice must focus on administrative capacity, infrastructure development, and establishing a fair working environment alongside judicial duties.
“Courts are not mere concrete structures, but spaces where citizens seek justice and faith in the rule of law,” Justice Sinha said.
He added that employee welfare remains an entitlement that the judiciary must fulfill promptly. He also emphasized the role of a strong, independent bar in supporting a functional justice system. During the ceremony, the Advocate General highlighted Justice Sinha’s judicial record.
Before taking charge as Chief Justice on 29 March 2023, Justice Sinha delivered nearly 1,34,200 judgments. Between 29 March 2023 and 1 September 2026, he disposed of 50,228 cases at the High Court, comprising 32,600 single-bench and 17,628 division-bench matters.
He also authored over 369 reported judgments addressing questions of constitutional, criminal, arbitration, and service law.
Members of the state judiciary, registry officers, and representatives from the local bar association attended the event.
