75 years after Independence, this remote village in Ambikapur gets electricity for the first time
Raipur: On the auspicious day of Karma, the folk festival of the Surguja region, 21 houses of Taparnaka, a dependent village of mining-affected Fattepur village, got electrified for the first time since India’s Independence. The entire settlement is dominated by people belonging to Scheduled Tribes. The ‘lantern-era’ has finally ended in this village and there is a wave of joy among the villagers. Additional Collector AL Dhruv reached Taparnaka on Sunday and inspected the meter connection work in 21 houses and got electricity meters installed by electricians.
CSPDCL Executive Engineer R. Nagvanshi informed that Taparnaka, a mining-affected dependent village (settlement) of Fattepur village in the Udaipur development block, had been without electricity till 2022. On the instructions of the district collector, the work of providing electricity to this settlement was started under the ‘Mukhyamantri Majra Tola Vidyutikaran Yojana’. Separate transformers have been installed for this habitation. The village is home to 26 families belonging to the Scheduled Tribes. The work of electricity meter installation is being done in all 26 houses of the village. Out of this, electricity meters were installed in 21 homes on Sunday. The work of installing meters in the remaining 5 houses will be completed at the earliest.
