Chhattisgarh reshuffles 24 IPS officers; Rajnandgaon gets new IGP, major changes in district SPs
Raipur: In a major administrative reshuffle, the Chhattisgarh Government on Friday transferred and posted 24 Indian Police Service (IPS) officers, introducing new leadership across police ranges, districts, and urban policing. The Home (Police) Department issued the transfer order from Mahanadi Bhawan, Nava Raipur, late on Friday.
Among the senior-level changes, 2004-batch IPS officer Ajay Kumar Yadav, who was serving as Director of the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose State Police Academy, Chandkhuri, has been appointed as the new Inspector General of Police (IGP), Rajnandgaon Range.
He replaces Balaji Rao Somawar (2007 batch), who has been posted as Inspector General of Police (IGP) at the Police Headquarters (PHQ), Nava Raipur. Another 2008-batch IPS officer, Prashant Kumar Agarwal, previously serving as IGP, Chhattisgarh Armed Force (CAF), Bastar, has also been transferred to the PHQ as Inspector General of Police.
Major Changes in District SPs
Several districts have also received new Superintendents of Police (SPs).
Jitendra Kumar Yadav (2018 batch) has been shifted from Bijapur to take charge as SP, Kabirdham. Chavhan Kiran Gangaram (2018 batch) has been transferred from Sukma as SP, Balod, while Yogesh Kumar Patel (2018 batch) has been posted as SP, Surajpur after his transfer from Balod.
Trilok Bansal (2016 batch), who was serving with the Special Task Force (STF), Baghera, Durg, has been appointed SP, Bemetara. Sunil Sharma (2017 batch), formerly Assistant Inspector General (AIG), PHQ, has been posted as SP, Sarangarh-Bilaigarh, while Harish Rathore, who was handling Chief Minister Security, has been appointed SP, Korea district.
Key Changes in Raipur Police Commissionerate
The Raipur Urban Police has also witnessed significant changes.
Mayank Gurjar (2020 batch), previously SP, Dantewada, has been appointed Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP-Central), Raipur Urban. Sandeep Kumar Patel (2020 batch), who was serving as AIG (Special Branch), PHQ, has been posted as DCP (North), Raipur Urban. Robinson Guria (2020 batch), earlier SP, Narayanpur, has been appointed DCP (West), Raipur Urban.
Meanwhile, Bhavna Pandey, who was serving as DCP (West), Raipur Urban, has been transferred as SP, Dhamtari.
DIG and CAF Postings
Several officers have also been assigned key administrative and battalion responsibilities.
Prashant Kumar Thakur (2011 batch), outgoing SP, Surajpur, and Ramkrishna Sahu (2012 batch), outgoing SP, Bemetara, have been posted as Deputy Inspectors General of Police (DIG) at the Police Headquarters, Nava Raipur.
Shweta Rajamani (2012 batch), Commandant of the 19th Battalion, CAF, Karanpur (Bastar), has been appointed DIG, CAF, Jagdalpur.
Meanwhile, Dharmendra Chhabai (2012 batch), who was serving as SP, Kabirdham, has been posted as Commandant, 8th Battalion CAF, Rajnandgaon, while Suraj Singh Parihar (2015 batch), former SP, Dhamtari, has been transferred as Commandant, 4th Battalion CAF, Mana, Raipur.
The large-scale reshuffle is being viewed as a significant step by the Chhattisgarh Government to strengthen law enforcement, administrative efficiency, and policing across the state.
