Deputy CM Vijay Sharma Reviews Preparations for Amit Shah’s Bastar Visit, Travels by Bus to Venue

Raipur: Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Vijay Sharma on Saturday reviewed preparations for the proposed visit of Union Home Minister Amit Shah to the Bastar region.

Following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal for austerity and simplicity, Sharma travelled by bus from Jagdalpur to the event venue along with Bastar MP Mahesh Kashyap, public representatives and officials instead of using a private vehicle.

During the visit, Sharma inspected arrangements at the Shaheed Gunda Dhur Seva Dera in Netanar village under Jagdalpur development block and issued necessary instructions to officials.

Reviews SHG Activities

At the Seva Dera premises, the Deputy Chief Minister reviewed the functioning of the Seva Setu Kendra, Bank Sakhi Kendra and other livelihood initiatives being run by women’s self-help groups (SHGs). He interacted with women associated with the groups to understand their income-generation activities and appreciated their efforts towards self-reliance.

Sharma said that women in Bastar are steadily moving towards economic empowerment through SHGs and added that the Seva Setu Kendras are playing an important role in ensuring effective implementation of government welfare schemes at the grassroots level.

Directions for Memorial Site

The minister also inspected the statue site of tribal freedom fighter Shaheed Gunda Dhur and directed officials to ensure proper cleanliness, lighting, painting and decoration of the premises. He said the memorial symbolises the pride, identity and heritage of Bastar and should be maintained in an organised and dignified manner.

The inspection was attended by Bastar MP Mahesh Kashyap, Principal Secretary Niharika Barik, Panchayat and Rural Development Secretary Bhim Singh, Commissioner Doman Singh, IG Sundarraj P, Collector Akash Chhikara, Dantewada SP Gaurav Rai, District Panchayat CEO Pratik Jain and other senior civil and police officials.
