Maoist bunker busted in Bijapur forest; arms, explosives and machinery recovered

Raipur | Bijapur
Security forces on Monday unearthed a Maoist bunker stocked with explosives, weapons and machinery in the Doditumnar-Patelpara hill region under Gangaloor police station limits in Bijapur district.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs, a joint team of the Pidia police aid centre and Gangaloor police carried out a search operation in the dense forest and hilly terrain. During the operation, they discovered an underground bunker allegedly built by Maoists for storing logistical supplies and arms-related equipment.

Before the recovery operation, a Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) thoroughly inspected the site to rule out booby traps and safely secured the area.
Items recovered from the site include:
- Two Honda generators
- Two lathe machines
- One inverter
- Five batteries
- Eight solar panels
- A welding machine and drilling machine
- One country-made Barrel Grenade Launcher (BGL)
- 29 BGL shells
- Nearly 50 metres of cordex wire
- Two plastic drums
Police said the recovered machinery was likely used for the manufacturing or repair of weapons in the interior forest region. Further legal proceedings are underway in connection with the seizure.
