Eight from Raipur injured as car overturns in Dantewada

Raipur – Eight persons, including a six-month-old infant, sustained injuries after their car veered off the road and overturned multiple times into a field on the Dantewada-Bacheli route. The victims, residents of the Bhathagaon area in Raipur, were travelling to Kirandul for a family function when the accident occurred.
The vehicle, a Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, reportedly went out of control within the jurisdiction of the Bhansi police station. Witnesses stated the car flipped four to five times before coming to a halt in a roadside field. During the impact, the infant was thrown out of the vehicle and caught in a nearby tree, resulting in head injuries.
Rescue and medical aid
Employees from a nearby crusher plant rushed to the spot after hearing the crash and assisted in extricating the passengers. Bhansi police personnel reached the site shortly after and shifted the injured to Apollo Hospital in Bacheli.
Medical authorities have referred one woman to a hospital in Raipur as her condition remains critical. The other seven victims, including two men, two women, and three children, are undergoing treatment at the local facility.
Police investigation
Preliminary findings suggest the driver lost control of the speeding vehicle. Police officials have registered a case and initiated an investigation into the exact cause of the accident.
“The car was headed towards Kirandul from Raipur when it lost balance near the crusher plant. We are recording statements to determine if any mechanical failure or external factor contributed to the crash,” a police official said.
