West Asia crisis hits Raipur industries, LPG shortage triggers emergency meet

Raipur – The ongoing West Asia conflict has begun impacting industrial operations in Raipur, leading to a significant shortage of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG). District administration officials held an emergency meeting with industrial representatives at the Collectorate on Sunday to address the supply crunch.
Industrialists informed officials that while the Central government is providing 70% of the required capacity for commercial use, many units are not receiving adequate supply to maintain operations. Industries such as plastic container manufacturing, which rely entirely on LPG, are facing the prospect of shutting down or operating at minimal capacity.
Administration seeks data on requirements
Municipal Commissioner Vishwadeep directed industrial units to provide detailed data on their actual gas requirements. He stated that this information would enable the government to take appropriate decisions based on available stocks. The Commissioner assured representatives that the administration would work to ensure supply based on priority and availability.
Additional Collector Kirtiman Singh Rathore clarified that gas supply is categorised into domestic and commercial sectors, with industrial units falling under the latter. He noted that the administration is monitoring the situation closely to prevent further disruptions.
The meeting was attended by officials from the District Trade and Industries Centre, the Food Department, and various industrial associations. Representatives from several manufacturing units also participated to discuss potential solutions to the ongoing energy crisis.
