Bijapur SP warns against child lifting, organ harvesting rumours

Raipur: Bijapur Superintendent of Police Dr Jitendra Kumar Yadav has issued a public advisory regarding misleading rumours of child lifting and kidney theft circulating on social media and through word of mouth.

The SP stated that most of these reports are entirely baseless and are intended to spread fear and insecurity among the public. He urged residents to remain calm and vigilant.

Dr Yadav highlighted several key points for the public to follow:

  • Refrain from spreading rumours about any unknown person or incident without verification.
  • Do not forward suspicious messages or videos received on platforms like WhatsApp and Facebook without fact-checking.
  • Report any suspicious activity in villages or localities to the police immediately.
  • Do not take the law into your own hands or allow mob action.

The SP noted that such rumours often lead to assault of innocent persons or other untoward incidents. He clarified that the police administration regularly investigates such reports and citizens should rely only on official information.

The district police have appealed to residents to spread awareness in their villages to maintain peace and law and order. Any suspicious activity should be reported to the nearest police station or the Bijapur Police Control Room on 07853-220155 or 94791-94499.
