Bharatiya Janata Party Nominates Chhattisgarh’s OBC Woman Leader Laxmi Verma for Rajya Sabha

Highlighting its focus on women’s empowerment and OBC representation, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has nominated Laxmi Verma, a prominent woman leader from Chhattisgarh, as its candidate for the upcoming Rajya Sabha biennial elections.
The decision was approved by the party’s Central Election Committee on March 3, 2026. As per the official press release issued from the party headquarters in New Delhi, and signed by National General Secretary (Organization) Arun Singh, the BJP cleared the names of nine candidates from multiple states for the upcoming polls.


Election Context
These nominations are aimed at filling the biennial vacancies in the Rajya Sabha from the respective states. The selection of Laxmi Verma from Chhattisgarh reflects the BJP’s broader national strategy of promoting diverse leadership, strengthening regional representation, and ensuring greater participation of women and backward classes (OBCs) in Parliament.
