Union Minister for Power, Housing and Urban Affairs Manohar Lal Khattar arrived in Raipur on Sunday and addressed a press conference at the New Circuit House in Civil Lines. Speaking on the Union Budget, he said it would give fresh momentum to air, rail and road connectivity in Chhattisgarh.
The Union minister said that India has today become the world’s fourth-largest economy and is now moving ahead to surpass Germany. India’s name is firmly counted among the world’s top four to five major countries, which he said is the result of strong economic policies.
Air connectivity to improve in Chhattisgarh
Khattar said the central government is continuously working to enhance air connectivity in Chhattisgarh. Under the UDAN scheme, air services have been launched from Jagdalpur, Bilaspur and Ambikapur. In addition, Raipur’s Swami Vivekananda Airport has been included under the Krishi Udaan scheme, which will enable faster transportation of agricultural produce.
He said the Budget places special emphasis on strengthening the country’s infrastructure. A provision of ₹10,000 crore has been made for the Semiconductor Mission, while ₹40,000 crore has been allocated for the electronics sector. This, he said, will directly benefit industrial investment and employment generation.
NH corridors approved in Chhattisgarh
The Union minister said that since 2014, priority has been given to the development of national highways in Chhattisgarh, with over 3,400 km of roads constructed so far. Under the Bharatmala project, more than 571 km of national highway corridors have been approved in the state, which will further strengthen connectivity.
He added that work will also be undertaken on the redevelopment of railway stations, expansion of warehousing facilities, and the establishment of dedicated industrial parks. Special facilities will be developed to promote capital goods and high-tech machinery manufacturing, paving the way for Chhattisgarh to move forward on a new path of development.
