Waqf Board asks mosques, madrasas to hoist Tricolour on Republic Day

Raipur
The Chhattisgarh State Waqf Board has issued a directive to all mosques, madrasas, and dargahs across the state to hoist the national flag on the occasion of Republic Day.
The board noted that the country will celebrate its 77th Republic Day on 26 January 2026. Chhattisgarh Waqf Board Chairman Dr Salim Raj has appealed to the community to mark the day with patriotism and national unity.
Dr Raj stated that India is a land of Sufis and saints where people of all faiths live together in harmony, reflecting the ‘Ganga-Jamuna tehzeeb’. He said that Islam teaches love for one’s country and urged everyone to perform their duty towards the Constitution by participating in flag-hoisting ceremonies.
“Those who oppose the hoisting of the national flag are not patriots. Such individuals have no right to stay in the country if they have a problem with the Tricolour,” Dr Raj said.
He added that while Indian Muslims love their country and respect the Constitution, the actions of a few individuals often lead to the entire community being viewed with suspicion. He urged the community to stay away from such elements and celebrate the festival of democracy together to maintain the country’s social fabric and show true loyalty to the Constitution.
