Neighbor Turns Out to Be Main Culprit in House Break-In Theft

Raipur

In a shocking betrayal of trust, a neighbor emerged as the primary accused in a burglary at an empty house in W.R.S. Colony under Khamtarai police station limits. Anti-Crime and Cyber Unit along with Khamtarai police arrested two locals, recovering stolen gold, silver jewelry, and a mobile phone worth around Rs 1 lakh.

Hori Pal, a W.R.S. Colony resident, reported the theft after returning from his ancestral village in Mahasamund on January 20. His neighbor Ravi Swami had alerted him via phone about a broken lock, only for Pal to discover the front door and cupboard locks smashed, with gold-silver ornaments and cash missing from the almirah.[file:1 from prior context, adapted to news] Police registered FIR No. 38/26 under BNS Sections 331(4) and 305 against unidentified thieves.

Under senior officers’ directions, a joint team inspected the scene and quizzed Pal extensively, then neighbors and locals. Ravi Swami’s shifting statements raised suspicions; intense grilling led him to confess plotting the break-in with accomplice Rahul Dhruv. Both were nabbed, with stolen items seized, and charges under BNS Sections 283 and 3(5) added.
