The debate ban imposed by both the Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on their respective leaders has been officially lifted. With this decision, party representatives from both sides will once again participate together in television panel discussions across all news channels.
Earlier, the Congress had instructed its leaders to boycott TV debates featuring BJP leader Gaurishankar Srivas, while the BJP had similarly directed its representatives not to appear in debates that included Congress representative Vikas Tiwari. Those internal party orders had significantly impacted political discussions on local and national television in recent weeks.
Both parties have now revoked their respective restrictions. As a result, Srivas and Tiwari will be free to share platforms and participate in political debates alongside other panelists.
Observers in the political circles of Chhattisgarh view this move as a sign of easing tensions between the two major political rivals. The timing also suggests that both the Congress and BJP are seeking to return to a more open exchange ahead of upcoming urban and panchayat elections, where media visibility and narrative control remain key to voter outreach.
