The Chhattisgarh Public Service Commission (CGPSC) released the final results of the State Service Examination 2024 late on the night of 20 November. Male candidates dominated the top 10 merit list, while two female candidates also secured positions. Devesh Prasad Sahu from Durg secured the first rank overall.
Top Ranks and Deputy Collector Posts
- Devesh Prasad Sahu (Durg) – Overall Topper
- Chanchal Paikra (Sarguja) – Topper in the Scheduled Tribe (ST) Category
- Mayank Mandavi (Sarguja) – Second Rank in ST Category
Both Chanchal Paikra and Mayank Mandavi are expected to be appointed as Deputy Collectors based on their ranks. The CGPSC website briefly crashed following the result announcement.

Chanchal Paikra’s parents — Raghubar Paikra and Kuntila Paikra — are farmers from Karabell, Sitapur, who also sell vegetables to support the family.
After she failed the preliminary exam earlier, her father sold a piece of land to send her to Bilaspur for coaching.
Her hard work paid off as she topped the ST category in the CGPSC 2024 results.

‘Faceless Interview’ Introduced
For the first time, the Commission introduced a ‘Faceless Interview’ system.
Interviews held from 10 to 20 November assigned code numbers to candidates, keeping their identities hidden from the interviewers.
This initiative aims to enhance transparency in the selection process following past controversies.
