Nine Eye Patients from Bijapur Undergoing Treatment in Raipur, Condition Stable

Raipur, November 13, 2025Nine patients from Bijapur district suffering from eye-related ailments are receiving specialized treatment under the supervision of expert doctors at the Department of Ophthalmology and Regional Eye Research Centre, Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Memorial Hospital, affiliated with Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Medical College, Raipur.

Health Minister Shyam Bihari Jaiswal has instructed the Dean of the medical college, Dr. Vivek Chaudhary, and the hospital superintendent, Dr. Santosh Sonkar, to ensure proper treatment and comprehensive care for all patients. Commissioner and Director, Dr. Priyanka Shukla, has also directed hospital authorities to maintain utmost vigilance in this matter.

Under the leadership of Head of Ophthalmology, Dr. Nidhi Pandey, a team of experienced and skilled doctors is providing the necessary medical and surgical treatment. Providing more details, Dr. Pandey said that six postoperative endophthalmitis patients referred from Bijapur District Hospital have undergone vitrectomy surgeries, and all nine patients have been administered intravitreal injections. In addition, one patient has received a corneal transplant.

Meanwhile, a three-member investigation committee constituted by Dr. Priyanka Shukla has arrived at Bijapur District Hospital and initiated inquiry proceedings.

According to doctors, all patients are receiving care as per medical protocols. Their condition is currently stable, and they are recovering well under continuous medical supervision.
