IG Ratan Lal Dangi Removed Over Sexual Harassment Allegations; Ajay Yadav Takes Charge as New Director of Chandkhuri Police Academy

Raipur, 07 November 2025 — Inspector General (IG) Ratan Lal Dangi, Director of the Chhattisgarh Police Academy, Chandkhuri, has been removed from his post following allegations of sexual harassment. He has now been attached to the Police Headquarters (PHQ).
The action was taken after the wife of a Sub-Inspector (SI) posted at PHQ lodged a complaint accusing Dangi of sexual harassment and mental torture. The removal order was issued by Home Department Secretary Himshikhar Gupta.
Meanwhile, senior IPS officer Ajay Yadav, who previously served in the Narcotics Department, has been appointed as the new Director of the Chandkhuri Police Academy.
According to sources, the Home Department made the decision following a 14-day internal inquiry into the allegations. In response, IG Dangi has denied the charges and filed a counter-complaint against the woman, claiming that she is attempting to defame and blackmail him.
The investigation is being led by IG Anand Chhabra under the supervision of Police Headquarters. The inquiry team, which includes women officers, will first record the complainant’s statement and collect digital evidence, followed by Dangi’s statement.
The complaint was filed on October 15, 2025, with the woman alleging that she first met Dangi in 2017, when he was SP in Korba. Their acquaintance reportedly began through social media interactions.
According to her complaint, she used to teach Dangi yoga via video calls during his posting in Dantewada, and the alleged harassment began after his transfer as IG of Rajnandgaon and Surguja. She further claimed that the harassment intensified when he was posted as IG in Bilaspur.
The woman alleged that Dangi summoned her to his bungalow in his wife’s absence and threatened her with transfers if she refused to comply. After his posting at the Chandkhuri Police Training Academy, she claimed he forced her to remain on video calls from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m., and that she possesses digital evidence supporting her claims.
In his defence, Dangi alleged that the woman filed the complaint only after learning about his counter-complaint, accusing her of blackmail, false accusations, and making unreasonable demands, including threats of suicide.
Meanwhile, some of the complainant’s relatives have claimed she has a history of suspicious conduct, alleging she was previously involved in fraud and blackmail cases. Her brother-in-law alleged that she had made false allegations in past family disputes to extort money.
Officials confirmed that previous complaints and related cases involving the complainant may also be examined as part of the ongoing inquiry.
