Train Collision Near Bilaspur Claims 11 Lives, 20 Injured; CRS Inspection Scheduled for Tomorrow

Bilaspur, November 5, 2025:
A tragic train accident occurred near Bilaspur Railway Station on November 4, when a freight train and a MEMU local train derailed, resulting in the death of 11 passengers and injuries to 20 others.

Relief and rescue operations were launched immediately by the Railway Administration. The injured passengers were rushed to nearby hospitals, where they are receiving treatment under the supervision of specialist doctors. Each injured passenger has been provided with an immediate ex-gratia payment of ₹50,000 as advance financial assistance.

Senior railway officials are continuously monitoring the situation and coordinating with hospitals to ensure proper medical care, transportation, and other necessary support for the victims and their families.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) for the South Eastern Circle under the Ministry of Civil Aviation, B.K. Mishra, will arrive in Bilaspur on Thursday to conduct an on-site inspection and begin a detailed investigation into the cause of the derailment. The inspection is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. and will continue until completion. The Railways has requested all individuals holding relevant evidence to be present during the inquiry.

Authorities have assured that every necessary step is being taken to provide assistance to the affected families and to determine the cause of this tragic incident.
