Major Train Accident Near Bilaspur Station: Freight and MEMU Local Trains Derailed, 6 Dead, 5 Injured — Railway Announces Compensation

A major train accident occurred near Bilaspur Railway Station today, where a freight train and a MEMU local train derailed. In this tragic incident, six people lost their lives, while five passengers were injured. The injured passengers are being treated at nearby hospitals.
The Railway Administration has announced ex-gratia compensation for the victims and their families:
- ₹10 lakh each for the families of the deceased
- ₹5 lakh each for the seriously injured
- ₹1 lakh each for passengers with minor injuries
Relief and rescue operations have begun at full speed. Senior railway officials are present at the site, supervising the relief work and ensuring immediate medical aid for the injured. The Railway Administration has assured all possible assistance to the affected passengers.
A detailed inquiry will be conducted by the Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) to determine the cause of the accident and prevent future occurrences.
