The announcement of the new executive committees for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state unit and its seven frontal wings (morchas) has been significantly delayed, leading to a standstill in organisational work. The lists, which were due by the end of last month, are now expected to be released by the second week of October.
State BJP President Kiran Deo had announced his new state team last month, which included the appointment of presidents for the seven morchas. According to party rules, these morcha presidents were required to constitute their respective executive bodies by the end of September.
Sources indicate the delay was due to the presidents’ preoccupation with major party and religious events, including Navratri and the ‘Seva Pakhwada’ campaign. With the Navratri festival now concluded, morcha presidents have intensified preparations for their executive lists. The final approval will be granted by senior party functionaries.
Following the announcement of the state team, a meeting of national leaders took place on 31 August. During this meeting, state functionaries were reportedly directed to strengthen the organisation and ensure the timely formation of the executive bodies. All morcha presidents had been instructed to form their teams under the guidance of senior leaders. Despite this directive, the lists remain pending.
The delay is not limited to the morchas. Executive committees for nearly a dozen district units are also yet to be announced. This includes crucial units such as Raipur city and Raipur rural.
The initial target was to finalise all district lists in August, a task which also remains pending. The party organisation has issued clear instructions to all district presidents to prepare their executive teams without further delay.
Political analysts suggest the prolonged delay in forming the executive bodies may impact the party’s overall organisational strength and outreach. Party workers, awaiting the new team structure, are now looking towards the coming month for the final announcement. The delay is primarily being attributed to the busy schedule of religious and party events.
