The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bhilai successfully conducted a cleanliness drive from September 17 to 30, 2025, as part of the nationwide “Swachhata Hi Seva 2025” Swachhata Pakhwada campaign.
As part of the initiative, the Institute community carried out a shramdaan (voluntary labor) activity, cleaning the Primary Health Center campus and the road stretch from IIT Bhilai’s Gate No. 1 to Gahna village. Faculty, staff, environmental educators, and employees enthusiastically participated, underlining the spirit of collective responsibility towards cleanliness.
The campaign was coordinated by Christopher Mishra under the guidance of IIT Bhilai Director Prof. Rajiv Lights.
During the fortnight-long campaign, the Institute also organized several awareness activities focusing on water conservation, promotion of paper bags, and the use of clay pots, aligning with the broader goals of environmental sustainability.
Highlighting the significance of the campaign, the Institute noted that “Swachhata Hi Seva” is not just a symbolic activity, but a continuous effort and a concrete step towards self-reliance and sustainable development.
The drive concluded with participants taking a pledge to adopt environment-friendly practices and work towards the vision of a clean and green India.
