Mitanins Call Off Stir After Talks With Health Secretary

Raipur
The ongoing protest by Mitanins (community health workers) was called off on Tuesday after representatives of the Chhattisgarh Mitanin Association and Trainers’ Welfare Association met Health Secretary Amit Kataria to discuss their demands.

During the meeting, Kataria informed the delegation that a proposal to increase the honorarium of Mitanins by 50% has already been forwarded to the state government for approval.

The discussion also included proposed revisions in the rates under the ROP: ₹16 per day for trainers, ₹23 per day for help desk facilitators, and ₹1,875 per month for block coordinators. Officials assured the delegation that the matter was being considered positively.

Kataria further explained that since the contract of the earlier implementing agency had ended, the Mitanin programme will now be managed under the newly constituted State Health Systems Resource Centre (SHSRC) in accordance with Government of India guidelines. The Health Secretary will chair the General Assembly of SHSRC, while the Commissioner (Health) will serve as the chairperson of its Executive Committee.

The meeting was attended by state representatives of the associations along with Health Secretary Amit Kataria, Commissioner-cum-Mission Director Dr. Priyanka Shukla, and Mitanin Programme Nodal Officer Dr. Ajay Shankar Kannauje.
