Chhattisgarh Finance Minister O P Choudhary‘s recent visit to the United States has been a significant step towards strengthening the state’s ties with the global Indian diaspora and promoting its development initiatives. The visit also aimed to attract investment for the ‘Chhattisgarh Vision 2047’ plan.
NRI Vivek Chaubey, a New Jersey resident, shared his experience of meeting with the minister, stating that the visit would not only help in attracting investment but also in popularising the state’s vision globally.
Chaubey highlighted the success of a roundtable meeting that was held in the presence of the Consulate General of India, New York. The meeting saw participation from over 42 organisations, including investors, university scholars from various parts of the US, and NRIs from Chhattisgarh. During this meeting, Choudhary gave a detailed presentation on the ‘Chhattisgarh Vision 2047’. He told the attendees that they could avail of any assistance from the state government simply by sending an SMS.
The finance minister’s efforts to engage with various stakeholders, including investors, scholars, and the NRI community, were widely appreciated.
Recalling the state’s past, Chaubey said he had seen difficult times in Chhattisgarh, when 10-hour power cuts in a day were common. The state now has a surplus of electricity and other resources.
During his visit to New Jersey, Choudhary visited Chaubey’s residence. The minister was impressed to find a ‘Chhattisgarh Corner’ in the house, which featured the world-famous Dokra art from Bastar. He also met with Chaubey’s family, including his school-going daughter, Aadyya Chaubey. Choudhary was pleased when Aadyya spoke to him in Hindi instead of English. He gave her some tips for her studies.
