Raipur
Raipur Police, in its ongoing efforts to promote road safety and immediate assistance to accident victims, honoured six Good Samaritans on Sunday. Senior Superintendent of Police, Raipur, Santosh Kumar Singh, led the event at the residence office, where these individuals were recognized for their exemplary actions in saving lives during road accidents.

During the ceremony, Additional Superintendent of Police Traffic Raipur Om Prakash Sharma, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Gurjeet Singh, and staff from the Road Safety Cell, including Kamlesh Kumar Verma, Mukesh Verma, and Rajkumar Sahu, were present to extend their support.
India witnesses approximately 1.5 lakh fatalities in road accidents annually, often due to delays in providing timely medical assistance to the injured. The crucial “Golden Hour” following an accident, where immediate medical attention can significantly enhance survival rates, is often lost due to procedural delays in investigations.
To address this issue, the SSP has directed all station in-charges to actively promote and reward Good Samaritans who assist accident victims promptly. In line with this directive, today, six individuals who rendered aid to injured victims in various accidents across the Raipur district were felicitated with mementos and commendation letters.
These Good Samaritans include: Manohar Varwani assisted Dushyant Anant after a road accident on March 13, 2024, by swiftly arranging for an ambulance and admitting him to the district hospital.
Jasbir Singh aided Amarnath Khunte on March 22, 2024, by promptly calling for an ambulance and ensuring his admission to the district hospital.
Hitesh Sahu helped Temeri on March 20, 2024, and Vinayak Chandrakar on April 1, 2024, by personally transporting them to the hospital after their accidents.
Dileep Kumar Sen dialed emergency services and ensured the prompt transfer of injured individuals to CHC Dharasiwa after an accident on April 2, 2024.
Roma Rai Kurwe dialed emergency services to assist an injured person involved in an accident on March 25, 2024.
Sonaram Banjare provided assistance to a rider and passenger involved in an accident on March 26, 2024, by arranging for a 108 ambulance to transport them to the Samudayik Health Center in Simaga.
All these individuals have demonstrated exceptional courage and compassion in providing timely aid to accident victims, and they are encouraged to continue their noble efforts in the future. Their photos have been prominently displayed on billboards across the city to inspire others to follow their example and contribute to road safety initiatives.
