Prisoner escapes from Raipur court premises: SSP suspends 2 constables for negligence

Raipur
A dramatic incident unfolded within the confines of Raipur Court as a prisoner managed to escape police custody. The escape transpired while the prisoner was being escorted from the court’s lockup to the courtroom, seizing an opportune moment to flee. In response, the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Santosh Singh, has promptly suspended two constables for their negligence.
Reports indicate that the incident occurred within the jurisdiction of the Civil Lines police station. Two months ago, Raipur Police apprehended Pradeep Adinath, a resident of Ahmednagar, Maharashtra, in connection with a drug-related offense. Subsequently, legal action was initiated against him under the NDPS Act, leading to his incarceration.
The two constables, whose lapse in duty facilitated the escape, have been suspended with immediate effect.
The accused was scheduled for a court appearance on Thursday at the Raipur Court, where he was housed in the lockup within the court premises. As the accused’s turn for presentation approached, two constables, namely Dageshwar Gaikwad and Satpal Sahu, responsible for his custody, were escorting him to the courtroom. A case has been registered against the absconding prisoner.
