Constable found dead at Minister’s bungalow; probe launched


Raipur: In the early hours of Saturday, a constable stationed at the residence of Chhattisgarh Food and Civil Supplies Minister Dayal Das Baghel on Station Road, Raipur, reportedly ended his life by shooting himself in the chest. The incident took place around 2:10 AM, when the guard identified as Rohit Salame, used his Excalibur rifle to inflict the fatal wound.

Upon receiving notification of the event, the Superintendent of Police promptly arrived at the scene with a team of officers. The authorities have commenced an investigation into the incident, falling under the jurisdiction of the Ganj police station area. Further details are expected to unfold as the investigation progresses.
According to police reports, the deceased constable had completed his duty by 2:00 AM and took his own life upon returning from his patrol rounds. He had recently returned from a twenty-five-day earned leave (EL) just a week prior. An inquiry is underway to ascertain the motives behind the suicide.
Company Commander Nehru Ram Sahu, DSP Line Nilesh Dwivedi, RI Vaibhav Mishra, and Ganj Police Station in-charge Ashish Yadav also responded to the scene. The constable’s body has been transferred to the hospital.
“The motive behind this drastic action remains unclear at the moment. We are endeavoring to uncover the reason,” stated Raipur Superintendent of Police Santosh Singh.
