Opposition’s concerns arise over socio-economic survey, BJP MLA raises questions in Chhattisgarh Assembly

Raipur
In a session marked by the quiet demeanor of the Opposition, BJP MLA Ajay Chandrakar seized the floor in the Chhattisgarh Assembly on Thursday, voicing concerns and raising pertinent questions regarding the recently conducted social-economic survey. Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma, in response, acknowledged that only a fraction of the survey has undergone physical verification, adding to the mounting scrutiny surrounding the survey’s findings.
Chandrakar’s inquiry delved into the efficiency and credibility of the survey, particularly its completion within a remarkably short timeframe. He pressed for clarification: has the government fully embraced the survey results? Have actionable plans been formulated based on its findings? Moreover, he queried why only a fraction of the survey data has been subjected to physical verification, raising doubts about its comprehensiveness.
One of the focal points of Chandrakar’s interrogation was the startling revelation from the survey indicating that approximately 4.7 million households in Chhattisgarh lack access to toilets, a statistic diverging significantly from the figures reported on the Ujjwala Gas website, which indicates only 3.6 million beneficiaries. The apparent disparity underscored the need for clarity and consistency in the government’s data management and reporting processes.
Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma responded by affirming the availability of the survey results for public scrutiny, emphasizing that a clearer picture would emerge once the physical verification process is completed. However, Chandrakar persisted in questioning the accuracy of departmental figures displayed on official websites compared to the survey’s findings, urging for a resolution to the discrepancy.
In conclusion, Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma assured that steps would be taken promptly to initiate the physical verification of the survey data, aiming to address the concerns raised by the Opposition and ensure the accuracy and reliability of the state’s socio-economic statistics.
