Income Tax searches at former minister’s residence, cash in lakhs and gold-silver reportedly seized

Income Tax Department actions have been ongoing in Chhattisgarh for the past three days. The IT team conducted raids on more than 45 locations across the state on Wednesday morning. This included raids on the properties of the former minister in the previous government, Amarjeet Bhagat, prominent businessmen, and builders in the state. Now, information is emerging that the IT team seized cash in lakhs and gold-silver from the room of former Food Minister Amarjeet Bhagat.
According to sources, the IT department seized Rs. 27,31,000 in cash from the room of the former Food Minister. Additionally, several coins weighing 308 grams of gold-silver were found. The investigation of the room of Amarjeet Bhagat’s son, Aditya Bhagat, is still pending.
It should be noted that in the last 48 hours, Income Tax raids have been ongoing in several districts of the state, including Raipur, Durg, Bhilai, and Raigarh. This includes searches at 47 locations, including properties of Chauhan Builders, Pradeep Jain, Vijay Jain, Sandeep Jain, Pappu Bansal, Chandra Bhan Sherawat. Documents are being scrutinized at these locations. Senior officers from the Income Tax department have arrived in Raipur from Bhopal for these raids. Action is also underway at the residence of former Food Minister Amarjeet Bhagat in Rajpur, Balrampur. It is reported that the IT team has seized more than 2 crores in cash, jewelry, and crucial documents from various locations. The investigation is currently ongoing.
