CM Baghel Celebrates Teeja-Pora with Women Power
Raipur: Women are not only managing their households but also taking the lead in various other important initiatives. In Bastar, the women of Danteshwari Fighter actively participate in search operations, with an efficient troupe in place to carry out the task of fighting Naxals. Women in Chhattisgarh are more aware now and actively participate in all activities.
Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel was addressing the Teeja-Pora Tihar organized at his residence in the state capital today. During the celebration, the Chief Minister’s residence became ‘Maayka’ for the women of the state where they danced joyously. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel along with his family participated in this celebration and also gave Teeja gifts to the women. He worshipped Lord Shankar and Mata Parvati. On the occasion of Pora, he prayed for the happiness of the people of the state by worshipping the plough and Nandi (the sacred bull) for the prosperity of farming. He met with the women participating in Tihar enjoyed cultural programs, and swings and relished the taste of delicious Chhattisgarhi cuisine.
Addressing the Teeja-Pora festival, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel stated that guests who visit Chhattisgarh leave with a transformed perception of Chhattisgarh’s socially aware and actively participating women. The schemes formulated by the government aim to empower women, which can be observed through various initiatives. The government has also declared holidays for special occasions like Teeja, World Tribal Day, Karma Jayanti, and Chherchera Punni, allowing people to celebrate these festivals with greater joy and enthusiasm. He added that our government has transferred approximately Rs 1.75 crore directly into the accounts of the people of the state through schemes like Kisan NYAY Yojana, Labour Welfare Scheme, and Godhan NYAY Yojana. Due to this, all sections of the state have become prosperous. He said that on the occasion of Teeja, it is believed that it rains when women go to their parents’ homes. You can see that it has been raining well for the last two or three days. It is a matter of happiness that the people of our state have not faced famine in the last 5 years.
Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel stated that we have recently issued directives stipulating that those who commit crimes against women will be ineligible for securing government jobs. We have raised the status of women in the state and ensured their safety. He added that in a first for Chhattisgarh, government-run English medium schools have commenced, providing children from economically disadvantaged families the opportunity to receive an English-medium education. We are consistently working towards ensuring financial prosperity for everyone.
On the occasion of the Teeja-Pora festival, the Minister for Women and Child Development, Anila Bhediya, in her welcome address, stated that a nation can only achieve greatness by respecting and empowering women. She expressed her gratitude to Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and highlighted that under his leadership, significant efforts have been made to enhance women’s education, security, and empowerment. Various women-centric programmes in operation within the state have facilitated their progress.
The program was presided over by Kiranmayee Nayak, Chairperson of the State Women’s Commission.
Girish Dewangan, Chairman of the State Mineral Development Corporation, Sangeeta Sinha, Parliamentary Secretary, Shakuntala Sahu, MLAs Devati Karma, Savitri Mandavi, Anita Yogendra Sharma and a large number of women from across the state attended the programme.
