Third phase of the Chhattisgarhia Olympics begins on August 18
Raipur: The third phase of the Chhattisgarhia Olympics’ begins on August 18, featuring development block and urban cluster-level competitions. The winners from the zone-level competition held during the second phase will participate, and the event will conclude on August 23. In the first phase, the Rajiv Yuva Mitan club-level competition was organized from July 17 to July 22. In the second phase, the zone-level competition was scheduled from July 26 to July 31. On the initiative of chief minister Bhupesh Baghel, Chhattisgarhia Olympics was started in the year 2022 with the aim of encouraging traditional sports of Chhattisgarh, spreading awareness about sports and providing opportunities to players.
The previous Chhattisgarhia Olympics witnessed an unparalleled level of enthusiasm across the state. Participants of all ages, including women and children, participated in the competition wholeheartedly. Traditional games gained significant popularity, fostering a positive environment in every village. The Chhattisgarh Olympics continue to captivate the population, sparking a wave of enthusiasm and energy.
In the third phase of the Chhattisgarhia Olympics, rural zone-level winners and teams will compete at the development block level, while urban zone-level winners and teams will compete at the urban cluster level. In districts with municipal corporations, the urban cluster-level competition will be held at the municipal headquarters and will be equivalent to the development block level. Zone-level winners of all Nagar Panchayats of the district and municipal area jointly will compete in the corporation-level competition in the virtual municipal corporation organized in a suitable urban body.
After the Rajiv Yuva Mitan club-level, zone-level, and development block and urban cluster-level competitions, the fourth phase is scheduled to take place at the district level from August 27 to September 4. Following that, the fifth phase will occur at the divisional level from September 10 to September 20. The final phase will be the state level competition, which is set to happen from September 25 to September 27.
Chhattisgarhiya Olympics is being organized in two categories, team and single. The team category will include games like ‘Gilli Danda’, ‘Pittul’, ‘Sankhali’, ‘Langdi Daud’, Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, ‘Rassa Kassi’ (Tug of War), and Baati (Kancha). In the single category, participants can compete in ‘Billas’, ‘Fugdi’, ‘Gedi Daud’, ‘Bhawara’, the 100-metre race, the long jump, Rope Jumping, and Wrestling.
