Chhattisgarh cabinet decides to continue admission process in educational institutions under existing reservation system

Raipur: In a crucial decision, the Chhattisgarh Cabinet, under the chairmanship of chief minister Bhupesh Baghel, has resolved to complete the admission process in the state’s educational institutions under the existing reservation system.
The decision comes in response to an interim order passed by the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India on May 1, 2023, granting relief to the state government in the form of continuing appointment and selection procedures as per the pre-existing reservation system.
The Cabinet meeting, held at the chief minister’s residence office, focused on the pressing matter of admission procedures in educational institutions. As per the interim order issued by the Supreme Court, the state has been granted permission to carry out the admission process under the established reservation norms that were in place before the order.
The decision aims to ensure continuity and adherence to the reservation policy that has been a fundamental aspect of educational opportunities for various sections of society in Chhattisgarh. By continuing the admission process under the existing reservation system, the state government aims to uphold the principles of social justice and equitable representation in educational institutions.
This move by the Chhattisgarh Cabinet comes as a significant step towards providing access to quality education for all, reaffirming the state’s commitment to inclusivity and empowering marginalized communities.
