CM paid tributes to Mahendra Karma on his birth anniversary

Raipur: Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel paid floral tributes to the portrait of former minister and popular tribal leader Mahendra Karma on his birth anniversary, at his residence in Raipur today. MP Deepak Baij and Chief Minister’s advisor Rajesh Tiwari were also present on this occasion.

Chief Minister fondly recalled that during his tenure as leader of opposition in the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly and cabinet minister, Mahendra Karma played crucial roles and made invaluable contributions to the development of Chhattisgarh. He was not only a politician but also an empathetic, aware, and compassionate human being. Karma remained steadfast in advocating for the rights of tribal people, earning him the title “Bastar Tiger.”

“Personally, I feel fortunate to have had the companionship of such a selfless person and a true friend. He fought tirelessly for the betterment of the tribals all his life. Chhattisgarh will never forget his sacrifice in the Jhiram Ghati Naxal attack”, he added.

Chief Minister Baghel further stated that in order to preserve the legacy of Karma, the state government renamed Bastar University after him and introduced a social security scheme for Tendupatta collector families in his honor. He emphasized that Shri Karma’s thoughts and life values will continue to inspire us.
