Jashpur: Jashpur Municipality’s Chief Municipal Officer (CMO), Jyotsna Toppo, has been suspended by the State Government’s Urban Administration Department for financial irregularities. Specifically, Toppo awarded 37 tenders worth Rs. 5 crore without the participation of the PIC member, in violation of regulations, to benefit her preferred contractor. As a result, the Collector has assigned the charge of CMO to Jashpur Naib Tehsildar, Sushil Kumar Sen.
Under the leadership of Deputy Collector Prashant Kushwaha, a five-member high-level committee was formed to investigate the financial irregularities. Collector Dr. Ravi Mittal led the investigation, which discovered that CMO Jyotsna Toppo had given tenders and administrative approval for the 37 works without PIC member meetings. This was done to benefit Toppo’s favorite contractor.
