CMD Dr Prem Sagar Mishra was conferred with Distinguished Alumnus Award.

IIT-ISM Dhanbad has bestowed the prestigious Distinguished Alumnus Award on SECL CMD Dr Prem Sagar Mishra. Mishra received the prestigious Distinguished Alumnus Award from IIT-ISM Dhanbad for his achievements. This honour was bestowed on February 5, 2023, at an evening ceremony at ISM Dhanbad.

IIT-ISM bestows the Distinguished Alumni Award on alumni who have achieved exceptional success and performance in the mining and minerals industry. The qualifying points for this award are significant and include exceptional and valuable contributions to mining and mineral sector performance, effective coordination with stakeholders, promotion of process improvement, leadership and vision, successful project implementation, contribution to the service sector beyond general accountability, and so on. From 2010 to 2014, Shri Mishra was also the General Secretary of the ISM Alumni Association.

IIT ISM Dhanbad was started in 1926 by the then Viceroy of India, Lord Irwin, to create trained engineers and a workforce for mining activities in the country. In 1967, it attained the status of a university.
Dr Prem Sagar Mishra has a special identity in the coal industry. His hardworking personality, leadership skills, decision-making ability, communication style, and emphasis on innovation inspire his subordinates. Before joining SECL, he was the CMD of Coal India’s Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL), the Director of the Orissa Mineral Development Company, and a member of several Coal India subsidiaries.
Under the leadership of Dr Prem Sagar Mishra, in this financial year, SECL has registered an increase of over 20 million tonnes in coal production and over 55 million cubic meters in OBR as compared to the same period last year.
