₹27.5 lakh loan fraud busted in Raipur, habitual offender arrested within 24 hours

Raipur: Pandri police have cracked a ₹27.5 lakh loan fraud case and arrested 36-year-old accused Horilal Pankaj, a resident of Housing Board Colony, Sector-08 near Vidhan Sabha. He allegedly cheated the complainant, Krishna Rao.

According to the complaint, the accused and his accomplice took the victim’s documents and cash and secured multiple bank loans in his name. Based on this, FIR No. 101/2026 was registered at Pandri police station under Sections 318(4) and 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Acting on instructions from senior officers, the police team tracked and arrested the accused within 24 hours of receiving the complaint. During interrogation, he confessed to his involvement. He was formally arrested on April 18, 2026.

Police records show that the accused is a habitual offender with previous cases:

  • 2017 case at Kanker police station under Sections 420, 467, 468, 471, 34 IPC
  • 2023 case at Shivrinarayan police station, Janjgir-Champa under Sections 420, 34 IPC

The investigation is ongoing, and police are searching for other suspects involved in the fraud.

Police have urged citizens to avoid sharing personal documents or cash with unknown individuals and to report any suspected fraud immediately to the nearest police station or control room.
