The bond of unity and brotherhood transcends geographical boundaries, promotes a harmonious environment: Governor Biswabhusan Harichandan

Raipur: The foundation day of Odisha, Himachal Pradesh, and Sikkim states was celebrated with great enthusiasm under the programme “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat” at Raj Bhavan here on Sunday. Chhattisgarh Governor Biswabhusan Harichandan stated that the bond of unity and brotherhood among us transcends geographical boundaries and promotes a harmonious environment. The presence of people from various states here has facilitated the exchange of culture, new ideas, perspectives, and skills, thus enriching the economic and social landscape of Chhattisgarh.

Meanwhile, as part of the “Ek Bharat-Shreshtha Bharat” programme initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Central Government has launched a campaign to promote unity in diversity by celebrating the foundation days of various states. In keeping with this spirit, a programme was organized at Raj Bhavan, where residents of Chhattisgarh from Odisha, Himachal Pradesh, and Sikkim actively participated with great zeal. The Governor extended congratulations to everyone on the occasion of their respective foundation days.

Addressing the gathering, Governor Biswabhusan Harichandan said “It is truly fortunate to have the opportunity to express gratitude and acknowledge the significant contributions of the individuals from these states who consider Chhattisgarh as their home. We take great pride in having people from Odisha, Himachal Pradesh, and Sikkim among us, as they enhance our lives and contribute to the progress and development of Chhattisgarh. They have enriched the cultural heritage of this state and have played a pivotal role in its development.”

He mentioned that on the first day of April, Odisha celebrates ‘Utkala Dibasa’ (Odisha Day) to remember the foundation of the Odisha state. The agricultural knowledge and skills of the people of Odisha have contributed to the advancement of agricultural practices in Chhattisgarh, while their mining experience has assisted in the development of the mining sector in the state. Furthermore, the citizens of Odisha have enriched the cultural diversity of Chhattisgarh with their unique festivals, dance forms, and handicrafts.

He further added that the citizens of Himachal Pradesh have played a significant role in the development of tourism, horticulture, and education sectors in Chhattisgarh. Their expertise in promoting local tourism has contributed to the growth of the state’s tourism industry. Furthermore, their knowledge of horticulture has aided agricultural practices, and their contributions to the field of education have empowered Chhattisgarh’s youth.

Through their traditions, unique art forms, music, and culinary delights, the people of Sikkim have breathed new life into the cultural heritage of Chhattisgarh. Their dedication, hard work, and adaptability have not only made contributions to the state’s economy but have also fostered social integration and cultural exchange, he said.

In the programme, children and youth from all three states showcased their respective state’s cultures and folk traditions through their cultural performances. The performances of the Odissi dance from Odisha, the Nati dance from Himachal Pradesh, and the Maruni dance from Sikkim beautifully portrayed their rich cultural heritage.

Representatives of the three states, Purandar Mishra, Vivek Acharya, and Sangita Madan honored the Governor on behalf of their respective states. The Governor also felicitated individuals and talented students from these states who have made remarkable contributions in their fields.

Distinguished personalities including Padma Shri Bharti Bandhu, retired Indian Administrative Service officer M.K. Rawat, P.C. Dalei, Shri S.K. Mishra, retired lieutenant colonel D.K. Verma, litterateur Dr. Chitranjan Kar, and social worker Arun Panda were also honored during the event.

Additional Chief Secretary Subrat Sahoo, Governor’s Secretary Amrit Khalkho, Deputy Secretary Deepak Agrawal, children, youth, women, and dignitaries of the three states residing in Chhattisgarh were also present in large numbers.
