Raipur Mourns Businessman Killed in Pahalgam Terror Attack; City Erupts in Protest

Raipur – A wave of grief and anger has swept through Raipur following the tragic death of local businessman Dinesh Mirania, who was killed in a terror attack in Jammu & Kashmir’s Pahalgam. Mirania, 45, was visiting the scenic Baisaran Valley with his family to celebrate his wedding anniversary when the attack occurred.
His funeral was held in Raipur, with his son Shaurya performing the last rites. Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma were among those who shouldered the bier, joined by Governor Ramesh Bais and former Chief Minister Raman Singh. The Marwari cremation ground saw a significant presence of political leaders and community members mourning the loss.
Dinesh’s wife, Neha, overcome with grief, fainted at their residence before the funeral procession began. She has since recovered and is reported to be in stable condition.
The incident has sparked widespread outrage in Raipur. Citizens took to the streets in protest, trampling on and spitting at images of terrorists and Pakistani flags that were symbolically pasted on roads. Slogans condemning terrorism and demanding justice echoed through the city.
The deceased is survived by his wife Neha, son Shaurya, and daughter Lakshita. Prominent leaders, including Rajesh Munat, also visited the Mirania household to offer condolences.
Authorities have assured all support to the bereaved family and emphasized the state’s commitment to standing united against terrorism.
