Health Min calls on Panch-Sarpanchs to felicitate Mitanins on Mitanin Diwas

Raipur: Health minister T.S. Singh Deo has written a letter to all panchs and sarpanchs across the state urging them to honor Mitanins by organizing programmes in village panchayats on Mitanin Diwas celebrated on November 23.

“Mitanins have done remarkable work in the field of nutrition, health and awareness. They are the pride of our state. This year on November 23, our Mitanin programme is completing 21 years. The hard work of our 72,000 Mitanins has contributed a lot in improving the health of the people of Chhattisgarh. The progress that Chhattisgarh has achieved in the health sector after becoming a state would not have been possible without the efforts of the Mitanins”, he said.

He further stated that Mitanins started their work 21 years ago focussing on maternal health, child health and nutrition and later on Malaria, Diarrhea, and T.B. Along with the right to health, Mitanins are also doing remarkable work on social issues like women empowerment. She is connecting the community with the benefits of many welfare schemes of the government.

He added that taking inspiration from the Mitanin program of Chhattisgarh, ‘ASHA’ program was implemented across the country in which today 10 lakh women are community health workers. The World Health Organization has also appreciated their contribution at the global level this year. Every year November 23 is celebrated as Mitanin Samman Divas in the state.
