Raipur: The Chhattisgarh government has taken decisive action against corruption by suspending two senior officials for alleged financial irregularities.
Nirbhay Kumar Sahu, a State Service officer and former Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Abhanpur, has been suspended over alleged misallocation of compensation in the Bharatmala Project’s Raipur-Visakhapatnam Road Corridor. At the time of the alleged irregularities, Sahu was serving as SDM of Abhanpur; he currently holds the position of Commissioner, Jagdalpur Municipal Corporation. A departmental inquiry found that he illegally allocated compensation to certain landowners, causing substantial financial losses to the state exchequer. The investigation concluded that Sahu engaged in negligence and misconduct in his official capacity.
In a separate case, Ashok Kumar Patel, Divisional Forest Officer (DFO), Sukma, has also been suspended over alleged misappropriation of funds related to the Tendupatta bonus distribution. A thorough inquiry confirmed complaints of financial misconduct, leading to the government’s action against him.
These suspensions reaffirm the Chhattisgarh government’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and zero tolerance for corruption. The swift actions send a strong message that misconduct by public officials will not be tolerated, and stringent measures will be taken to uphold the integrity of governance.
