Teacher suspended for coming to school drunk, misbehaving in Korba

RAIPUR: A teacher in Korba district has been suspended with immediate effect following allegations of severe negligence, gross indiscipline, and arriving at school in an inebriated state. The suspended teacher has been identified as Jyoti Bhushan Singh Kanwar, posted as an LB teacher at Government Upper Primary School, Khodri, in the Pondi Uproda development block.
Official documents state that the District Education Officer (DEO), Korba, submitted a proposal on 15 October 2026, noting that Kanwar was found absent during an inspection, consuming alcohol on school premises, misbehaving with senior officials, and issuing threats.
The Block Education Officer (BEO), Pondi Uproda, had previously issued a show-cause notice to Kanwar regarding these charges, but he failed to submit a reply.
The authorities noted that Kanwar’s actions violated Rules 3 and 23(b) of the Chhattisgarh Civil Services (Conduct) Rules, 1965. Acting on the DEO’s proposal, the Joint Director invoked Rule 9 of the Chhattisgarh Civil Services (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, 1966, to order the suspension.
During the suspension period, Kanwar’s headquarters will be the office of the Block Education Officer, Pondi Uproda, and he will be entitled to a subsistence allowance as per rules.
