BJP state president Arun Sao recalls historic 2002 agitation that led party to power very next year

Raipur:The Congress party in Chhattisgarh is baffled after historic success of the massive agitation by youths of the state under the banner of BharatiyaJanata Party (BJYM) on Wednesday, said BJP state president Arun Sao on Thursday. Addressing media, Sao said that the unemploymentand law and order are emerging as major issues in the state and BJP and its wings will continue to raise the issue. Sao recalled the 2002 demonstration against the then Congress government in the state and the very next year people threw away the party from the power, he said, adding the demonstration on August 24, 2022 has raised alarm for Congress.

The youths managed to reach the CM House despite all efforts by the police force to stop them. The youths have lost faith in Congress government, he said. Sao said that the Congressmen are losing their cool after getting shocked by the success of this movement and are trying to divert the issues by using constant rhetoric.

Former minister Rajesh Munat said, even in the 2002 agitation, the then government had registered an FIR in four police stations. The same is being done this time too, but the workers will not stop until the BJP government is formed.

Munat said that a Congress minister refuted the promises made by the Congress to give Rs 2500 per month to 10 lakh unemployed youths as unemployment allowance while it is still mentioned in the manifesto. The state government should pay Rs 12000 crore to youths as allowance as per its promises.

Meanwhile, Congress spokesperson SushilAnand Shukla hit back at the claims of the BJP president. Shukla said that BJP state president Arun Sao is trying to spread the illusion by lying that the Congress had promised unemployment allowance to the youth in its public manifesto. Congress had never made any promise of unemployment allowance in its manifesto. The promise of giving unemployment allowance was made by the BJP itself in its 2003 election manifesto which was never fulfilled even after 15 years of rule.
