Chhattisgarh Assembly Speaker Dr. Raman Singh attends Commonwealth Parliamentary Association Conference

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Thursday inaugurated the 11th Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) India Region Conference in Bengaluru. Chhattisgarh Assembly Speaker Dr. Raman Singh also attended the three-day conference.
The conference, which will conclude on Saturday, is being held in the grand premises of the Vidhan Sabha in Bengaluru. Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh, Karnataka Assembly Speaker U.T. Khader Fareed, and officials from various states and Union Territories, including Chhattisgarh Assembly Secretary Dinesh Sharma, were present at the inauguration.
In his inaugural address, Om Birla stressed the public’s confidence in legislative bodies and the need for accountability among those in power. He spoke about the importance of debate and consensus, remembering the contributions of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and other members of the Constituent Assembly.
Birla spoke about initiatives like ‘One Nation, One Platform’ under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, emphasising the greater use of technology in legislatures and committees to improve transparency and accessibility. He also spoke about the ‘Digital Parliament’ initiative, which aims to bring the Parliament and state legislatures on a single platform.
During the conference, Dr. Raman Singh will present his views on the topic, ‘Dialogue and Debate in Legislative Institutions – The Basis of Public Trust and a Means to Fulfill Public Aspirations’. His address will focus on how dialogue, debate, and consensus can be used to fulfil public aspirations.
