Maoists kill two villagers in Bastar

Raipur
In a disturbing turn of events, Naxalites have murdered two more villagers with sharp weapons in Bijapur district, Chhattisgarh. This brings the total number of people killed by Naxalites in the region to 10 in the last 25 days, all suspected of being police informers.
The latest incident occurred on Sunday night in the Tarrem police station area. Four to five unidentified Maoists reportedly entered the homes of the victims, called them outside, and then brutally killed them with sharp weapons. The deceased have been identified as Kawasi Joga (55) from Chutwai village and Manglu Kursam (50) from Bara Tarrem village. The Jagargunda Committee of the Naxalites has claimed responsibility for the murders.
Police forces have arrived at the scene and are investigating the matter.
Son of one victim had surrendered
It is believed that Manglu Kursam’s son, Nandu, had previously surrendered to the authorities. Nandu was not present at home during the attack. Authorities suspect the Maoists intended to kill him and murdered his father when they could not find him.
The incident has created an atmosphere of fear and anger among the villagers. Police have deployed additional forces to the area and intensified patrolling.
