Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge launched a blistering attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah during the โKisan-Jawan-Samvidhan Sabhaโ held at Raipurโs Science College ground on Monday, questioning Shahโs repeated visits to Chhattisgarh by quipping, โIs this his home or in-laws’ house?โ

Braving heavy rains, a massive crowd gathered to hear Kharge speak. He began by thanking people for their presence despite waterlogged grounds and said, โYour presence in this rain shows your commitment. If you stand with us, no one can defeat us.โ
Recalling the Congress Maha Adhiveshan held in Raipur in 2023, Kharge said, โUnder my leadership and Bhupesh Baghel as CM, our slogan of social justice echoed from Raipur and broke the arrogance of the Modi government in 2024.โ
Mocking the BJPโs dependence on allies, he said, โModi is walking on two borrowed legs โ one is Nitish Kumar and the other is TDP. If even one pulls out, Modi will collapse.โ
Targeting the BJPโs resource policies, Kharge accused the Centre of exploiting Chhattisgarhโs natural wealth. โModi and Shah arenโt here for the people, theyโre here to loot our coal, forests, and iron ore,โ he alleged. He further said, โOur CM here is reduced to a puppet โ he sits when told to sit, stands when told to stand. This is an insult to Chhattisgarhโs pride.โ
Calling the BJP government โJhuthon ka Sardarโ (king of lies), Kharge said the Modi government had betrayed farmers and jawans and questioned the โน47,000 crore loan taken by the state government in 2025โ26. โIn our time, even โน1 loan would lead to protests. Where are those protestors now?โ
He also expressed outrage over Modiโs absence from key national meetings, including one held after the Pahalgam terror attack. โTwice meetings were held, and both times the PM didnโt attend. Itโs shameful and an insult to the people,โ he thundered, concluding with the slogan โChhattisgarhiya sabse badhiya.โ
Former CM Bhupesh Baghel, addressing the same gathering, slammed the BJP government for failing to provide essential services. โSchools have reopened, but children still donโt have textbooks. Farmers are not getting even a single sack of DAP fertiliser while Modi ji is busy touring the world,โ he said, accusing the Centre of supplying fake fertilisers and conspiring against farmers.
Baghel also highlighted security concerns in Bastar, stating that 35,000โ40,000 youth were leaving the region due to fear of being branded Naxals. He lauded Kharge and Rahul Gandhi for standing united with the country during the Pahalgam crisis, in contrast to Modi who, he said, chose to campaign in Bihar instead.
Despite the rain-soaked venue, a large number of people, including women, attended the rally โ some in raincoats, others holding umbrellas โ listening intently as Congress leaders delivered fiery speeches in a show of political strength.
