Bilaspur District’s Eight Outstanding Police Officers Named ‘Cops of the Month

Bilaspur’s Superintendent of Police, Santosh Singh, has introduced the “Cop of the Month” award to incentivise outstanding work within the policing domain. For September, several officers have been recognised for their exceptional contributions:
- Krishna Sahu from the ACCU (Anti-Crime Cum Control Unit) was awarded for his commendable efforts in recovering 18 kg (675 grammes) of gold and Rs 12.5 lakh in cash from the accused while taking effective actions in cases related to theft at the Police Station Civil Line, District Bilaspur.
- R. Avinash Kashyap and R. Sonu Paul, under the leadership of SHO (Station House Officer), were honoured for their role in the “Nijat” operation, conducted under the jurisdiction of the Hirri police station. Their dedication led to the recovery of 500 grammes of hashish under the NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) Act.
- Hemant Singh, S.U.N. (Station Under Officer of Narcotics), received recognition for the swift arrest of criminals involved in cases related to crimes against women.
- Sita Sahu, P.R. (Police Reservist), was acknowledged for her diligent management of the traffic system, marked by dedication and hard work.
- Deepak Ghosh was commended for his invaluable assistance in the arrest of a significant number of individuals with pending warrants and those accused of theft in the Kota police station’s jurisdiction.
- Sanjay Shyam and R. (Driver) Vinod Sahu Rakshit Kendra, Bilaspur, were also honoured with the Cop of the Month award for their unwavering commitment and dedication in the execution of their duties.

Apart from these accolades, two constables faced significant penalties for prolonged, unapproved absences, while two others received stern punishments for their negligence in safeguarding an undertrial, all as part of efforts to maintain discipline within the force. Additionally Constable Manjeet Goyal was dismissed from the police service following a departmental inquiry into his extended and illegal absence.
As part of the recognition, Ritu Dixit has received a citation and memento for her exceptional performance in enforcing traffic regulations and maintaining law and order at the ICCU (Integrated Control and Command Unit) Command Centre.

These distinguished officers not only receive cash rewards but also have their photographs prominently displayed on notice boards across all police offices, stations, and outposts throughout the entire month. This initiative aims to inspire other law enforcement officers to strive for excellence. The superintendent of police in Bilaspur has made it clear that officers who exhibit professionalism, integrity, and courteous behaviour towards the public will always be celebrated. Conversely, strict actions will be taken against any officer engaged in unlawful activities, indiscipline, or negligence in the execution of their official duties.
The ceremony was attended by Abhishek Maheshwari, Additional Superintendent of Police, Rural, Rajesh Srivastava, Deputy Superintendent of Police Headquarters, and the entire office staff.
