Opposition BJP created ruckus in Assembly accusing state govtof targeting its workers during Vidhan Sabha gherao
Raipur
As the proceedings of the Chhattisgarh legislative assembly began on Thursday, opposition BJP created ruckus alleging the Congress government of targeting its leaders and workers during the Vidhan Sabha gherao on Wednesday. The BJP members alleged that their party colleagues were on Wednesday targettedby the police under the directives of the government. The police fired tear gas shells at the BJP workers who along with the beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana were protesting against the state government for not contributing its share to the housing scheme, thereby depriving 16 lakh rural beneficiaries of houses.
Former chief minister Dr Raman Singh said that the incident has on Wednesday tarnished Chhattisgarh. State share was not given by the state government for the approved houses of PM AwasYojana, he alleged. That’s why all work should be stopped and a discussion should be held on this as soon as the Question Hour of the House began on Thursday.
Leader of Opposition Narayan Chandel said BJP workers were targeted and injured by firing chilli bombs, tear gas shells and lathicharge.
However, deputy speaker Santram Netam rejected the adjournment motion of the BJP citing the Home Minister’s statement in this regard. After this, an uproar was created by opposition, leading to the adjournment of the house for five minutes.
Earlier, the atmosphere of the House was heated in the matter of liquor with MLAs Gulab Kamro and Vinay Jaiswal kept demanding the closure of illegal clubs and liquor business. BJP MLAs too joined them.
MLA Jaiswal said that illicit liquor is coming from Madhya Pradesh.
Meanwhile, Congress leaders said that liquor is being brought from MP CM Shivraj Singh’s place. BJP MLAs got angry on taking on it. When the name of the CM of MP was taken, there was a ruckus.
Earlier, during a press conference BJP state president Arun Sao charged the state government with attempting murder on the opposition members during the Vidhan Sabha gherao on Wednesday.
