Three killed in Urla factory blast, management agrees to Rs 30 lakh compensation each

RAIPUR: Three workers were killed after an oxygen cylinder explosion at M/s 3-D Innovations in the Urla Industrial Area near Bendri village on Tuesday. The accident occurred during a lancing operation in the furnace of the company’s ferro alloys division. The deceased have been identified as Arun Pandey, Lal Singh, and Kamal Singh.

Following the incident, officials from the Industrial Health and Safety Department inspected the site, collected evidence, and launched an investigation into the cause of the blast.

Invoking Section 38(1)(a) of the Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Code, 2020, the department has suspended all manufacturing activities at the factory until further orders. A restrictive order has also been issued to the factory’s occupier and manager.

The company management has agreed to provide immediate financial assistance of ₹30 lakh each to the families of the deceased workers. The department has also directed the factory administration to ensure the timely payment of full wages and allowances to all employees during the suspension period.

The Industrial Health and Safety Department is conducting a detailed investigation into the accident. Based on the final investigation report and the available evidence, the administration will initiate appropriate legal action.
