Senior Journalist Vibhash Kumar Jha awarded Ph.D. for research on Osho’s Spiritual Communication

Raipur, July 10, 2026: Senior Journalist and media academic Vibhash Kumar Jha has been awarded the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree by Shri Shankaracharya Professional University, Bhilai (Durg district). He successfully completed his doctoral research on the topic, “Contribution of Osho in Spiritual Communication: A Comprehensive Study.” The research was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Dhanesh Joshi, Research Director and Head of the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication. Notably, it is the second doctoral research in India on Osho within the discipline of Mass Communication.

Dr. Vibhash Kumar Jha has been actively associated with Hindi and English journalism for the past 38 years. In recognition of his research-based journalism, he received the Chandulal Chandrakar Fellowship from the Government of Chhattisgarh in 2002, the National Media Fellowship from the National Foundation for India, New Delhi in 2004, and was selected for the National Media Fellowship by Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication, Bhopal in 2006.

For his outstanding contribution to journalism, he was honoured with the National Sarojini Naidu Journalism Award in 2008 and the Bharatendu Harishchandra Journalism Award conferred by the Government of India in 2010.

The Chhattisgarh Hindi Granth Academy has published two of his notable books—History of Hindi Journalism in Chhattisgarh and Chhattisgarh Samagra, a comprehensive reference volume on the state. In addition, he has authored two other research-based books.

Currently, Dr. Vibhash Kumar Jha is associated with an English daily newspaper in Raipur. He also serves as a Casual News Reader with the Regional News Unit of All India Radio (Akashvani), Raipur, and is engaged in news editing with Doordarshan Raipur.
