RAIPUR: Security forces seized a cache of arms and ammunition from an underground Naxal dump in the Lanka Pahadi forest under Bedre police station limits in Bijapur district on Monday, 21 September.
The recovery was made during a joint search and demining operation conducted by security personnel in the forest area.
The seized weapons and explosive materials include a self-loading rifle (SLR)/light machine gun (LMG), an INSAS rifle, a .315 bore rifle, two barrel grenade launchers (BGL), 17 BGL shells, a Chinese hand grenade, 49 SLR rounds, 15 rounds of .315 bore, 15 BGL cartridges, four SLR magazines, and a .315 bore magazine.
Police have seized the arms and ammunition and launched a detailed investigation.
Security forces in Bijapur district have uncovered multiple Naxal dumps earlier this month as part of ongoing anti-Maoist operations. On September 20, forces recovered an AK-47 rifle, a .315 bore rifle, a single-shot gun, a pistol, live cartridges, and magazines from the Adwada forest under Bhairamgarh police station limits.
On September 16, security personnel seized a .315 bore rifle, 49 live rounds of .315 bore, 25 live rounds of .303, 49 live rounds of 12 bore, 8 kg of gelatin, walkie-talkies, and other equipment from the Bade Alwada forest under Farsegarh police station limits.
On September 10, personnel recovered seven bundles of non-electrical wire, detonators, and grenades from multiple locations in the Indripal forest area under Mirtur police station limits.
On September 1, security forces seized a country-made 12-bore pistol, a BGL launcher, eight BGL shells, 10 live 12-bore rounds, and other materials from a Naxal dump in the Neelmadgu forest under Bhopalpatnam police station limits.
