Raigarh police launched a special verification drive across all police station and outpost areas on Sunday to identify and verify illegal immigrants in the district. The drive was carried out under the directions of Senior Superintendent of Police Shashi Mohan Singh to strengthen law and order and national security.
Police teams conducted checks at rented accommodations, worker settlements, industrial areas, and locations with a high concentration of residents from other states or foreign nations. Additional superintendent of police Anil Kumar Soni has been appointed as the nodal officer for the drive.
Station house officers identified hotspots in their respective jurisdictions where large numbers of tenants and migrant workers reside. Police teams visited these areas to verify Aadhaar details, mobile numbers, identity documents, and other credentials of the residents.
Police also issued directions to inspect passports, visas, and legal documents of foreign nationals employed in industrial establishments and plants across Raigarh district. Industrial management teams were instructed not to employ any foreign or external worker without proper police verification and valid documentation. Legal action will be taken against establishments found violating these norms.
Raigarh police urged house owners, industrial operators, contractors, and citizens to complete police verification for tenants and employees on time. Citizens were requested to report any foreign national living under suspicious circumstances or with questionable documents to the nearest police station, police control room, or helpline number 1800-233-1905, as well as Dial-112. The identity of informants will remain confidential.
The verification drive will continue across the district to curb illegal activities.
Senior superintendent of police Shashi Mohan Singh said national security and law and order are the top priorities. He added that no foreign national or suspicious person residing illegally will be given shelter under any circumstances. He appealed for public cooperation and asked citizens to contact the nearest police station, the state helpline number 1800-233-1905, the police control room at 94791-93299, or Dial-112 if they notice any foreign citizen living without valid documents.
